When the old man of the mountain becomes too old to tend the village's sheep, he comes to town looking for a young person to replace him. All of the village children think it would be great fun and are eager to be chosen. After a series of trials, Jonas is the winner. He is very excited about his good fortune until the job actually begins. It seems that a flock of sheep are not as fun as being with his friends. He gets bored, and what he does to relieve his boredom teaches him a lesson he will never forget!
