Theatre Under the Trees

Theatre Under The Trees is a unique program that gives our young people an opportunity to perform Shakespeare and provides the community free access to his classic works.

Theatre Under The Trees has been bringing classic Shakespearean comedy to York County audiences in partnership with local recreation boards and parks for ten years. Shows have included "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "The Tempest," "A Comedy of Errors." "The Taming of the Shrew," and "Twelfth Night."

We offer the shows to audiences and parks for free.

Theatre Under the Trees (TUTT) Information

TUTT comedies are full length, fast moving and full of music, laughter and fun, as Shakespeare intended. Founder and Director Michelle Denise Norton begins each summer intent on creating a show suited for audiences both new to Shakespeare and people who already love his plays. Cousler Park, Lake Redman, Dallastown Lions Park, Gifford Pinchot State Park and others provide a perfect backdrop to Shakespeare's simple settings.

Theatre Under The Trees is a fun way to spend a summer evening as an audience member or a great way to explore Shakespeare's classics as an actor. We encourage you to take part in this annual event.

DreamWrights applauds Michelle Denise Norton and Gayle Eubank for their ten years of excellent service in treating the York community to annual summertime performances of Shakespeare at local parks throughout the county.

On sabbatical in 2008, TUTT will return in 2009 with The Taming of the Shrew!
